April 23 - September 30, 2020
With the kids home from school, and social isolation continuing, you may be looking for ways to keep your family away from screens, and tackle your to-read list. The Tumour Foundation of BC’s first read-a-thon could be just the fun activity you’re looking for during quarantine. Reading is a great activity which can help us feel less alone as we delve into stories about other people and far away places.
If you struggle with learning disabilities, reading might not be your go-to activity. However, with a community to support you and great prizes to be won, we hope we can encourage you to join our first ever read-a-thon.
We are kicking off this event with a launch party to celebrate National Reading Day on Thursday, April 23rd at 11am. Register for the virtual party by clicking on the button below. Come dressed as your favourite character!
Everyone who participates will:
- receive a certificate to download
- be entered into a raffle for small prizes awarded throughout the two weeks.
Fundraising for the Foundation is optional, but we have some great prizes for those who do. The top fundraiser will receive a $100 e-gift card, while the second-top fundraiser will receive an e-gift card of $50.
Your generosity helps the Foundation continue to support and improve the lives of individuals and families affected by NF in these challenging times and in the future.
Are you looking for a way to get involved with the Foundation and create meaningful change despite a busy schedule?
The Read-a-thon fundraiser was launched this spring to help families by engaging kids through reading during social isolation. Reading is a great activity during our current situation, allowing us to delve into stories about far away places and connect with heroic characters. But reading isn't just for kids! Why not tackle your "to-read list" while contributing to a great cause? Adults are more than welcome to contribute in our Read-a-thon.
The Read-a-thon fundraiser is easy to do on your own, as a family, or for a class project.
When you register for the event you will be prompted to set up a fundraising page. Once you determine your reading goal, (for example, reading 30 minutes daily, 10 pages a day, a book a week, etc.) you can share it along with the link to your fundraising page with your friends and family. This will make them aware of your initiative and makes it easy for them to support you.
Your generosity helps the Foundation continue to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by NF in present and future challenging times. Every penny makes a difference.
You can keep track of the books you read by downloading the "Reading log document" to fill out to share with your supporters. All participants will receive a finisher’s certificate.
