My name is Elena. I was diagnosed with NF at the age of 7. I found out when I went to the BC’s children hospital in order to have a tumor removed from leg I had broken earlier that year. At this time I was only diagnosed with NF and the tumor was not removed. I ended up breaking my leg 3 more times when they decided to operate. I wore a leg brace for the good part of my childhood. At age of 12 is when I had a bone graph done. They took some bone off my leg and replaced it with some bone from my hip.

I have been very fortunate not to have other major issues due to NF. At the moment I have several lumps that I hope can be removed someday. I have people judge me for how I look sometimes. Many people do not understand why I have these bumps. I am hoping to meet more people through this site who have NF.
