SUPPORTING STUDENTS WITH NF1 IN THE CLASSROOM

Supporting Students with NF1 in the Classroom

Children with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) often face unique learning and behavioural challenges that can impact their success in the classroom. With the right understanding, strategies, and supports, these students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

To help educators, families, and support staff, the Tumour Foundation of BC has developed a set of resources designed to build awareness and provide practical tools for creating inclusive learning environments. These resources highlight common challenges such as visual perception, language and motor skills, executive function, attention, and social skills and offer concrete strategies to address them.

Below you will find downloadable guides and checklists that can be used in classrooms, shared with colleagues, or included in Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Whether you are a teacher, school administrator, or parent, these resources are meant to support collaboration and ensure students with NF1 have every opportunity to succeed.
