Help us make sure the world knows about NF

Neurofibromatosis, or NF, occurs in 1 of every 3,000 people, affecting more than 2.5 million people around the world. So why don’t more people know about it? Because there is no one way to define NF. Just like there is no one way to define a person living with NF. Patients with visible signs of NF struggle to be seen as more than just their NF, while patients whose NF is invisible struggle to make others understand.

Here is how you can help

Shine a Light at home

Shine a Light on NF makes NF visible by lighting homes, buildings, and landmarks across the globe in blue and green, the official colors of NF. You can bring this effort to your neighborhood by lighting up your home in blue and green.

You can also decorate your driveway or sidewalk with chalk pictures, messages, or NF facts.

Wear Blue and Green
Wear blue and green on May 17 in honor of World NF Awareness Day and green and blue on May 22 for NF2 Awareness Day!  Find anything blue and/or green in your closet (we promise we won't judge if you're in PJs all day!)
Share NF Facts

Teach others about NF using our Resource Library. Consider sharing one NF fact a day throughout the month on social media, making NF fact lawn signs, or download materials and email to friends, coworkers, teachers, or family who might want to learn more about NF.

Spread the Word on Social Media
  • Change your profile picture to one that celebrates NF Awareness!

Remember, the entire month of May is NF Awareness Month, so if you can't get May 17 (World NF Awareness Day), any day in May will work. Every day is a good day to shine a light on NF!

With your help we can shine brighter. Download your toolkit to make a request in your city.
