Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
Update April 8, 2021
COVID Vaccines and NF
There is no specific data that any of the COVID-19 vaccines affect people with NF differently than other people. We recommend speaking with your medical professional about your particular condition and options and consulting the BC CDC guidelines.
We are in tough times. The coronavirus outbreak has created drastic changes in the way we live, work, and interact with one another. However, we can get through this together.
The Tumour Foundation is continuing to support the community and we stand strong in our resolve to improve the health of the NF community, and create a clinic of experts. These goals are now more important than ever.
Although we are socially distanced, we are staying connected through social media (Facebook and Twitter) and online support meetings every Tuesday and Thursday. Please join us. There is power in coming together to support one another amidst these challenging times.
NF and COVID-19
As we all know, NF is unpredictable and variable. NF experts have told us that the best thing an NF patient can do right now is to follow the guidelines of the Center for Disease Control. Visit here for the latest on how to protect yourself, and what to do if you think you may be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
Update on Events
Right now we are uncertain whether the Scotiabank Charity Challenge in June will take place. We are hoping it will go forward, as this is a major fundraiser for our continued support of the NF community in 2020. We will keep you updated as we may turn this into a virtual event if the Scotiabank cancels the run, and we will need your support.
There is HOPE
Despite all that is going on, there are still efforts being made to improve the daily lives of the NF community. The drug selumetinib is now under consideration at the FDA, and we are very hopeful that this may be the first drug ever approved for NF treatment. You can learn more about the clinical trial’s success here. There is always hope and we must continue to fight because NF matters!
You are not alone
The Tumour Foundation is here for you. And while the use of social media can help, we know that’s not for everyone. If you want to talk directly to our staff, please reach out at 1-800-385-2263. You can always email us at email@example.com
